Android: Unreliable Alarm
There can be various reasons why an alarm is not triggered correctly.
The following points are the most common causes of unreliable alarms on Android devices. Please go through these points in order.
To test the alarm before or after adjusting the settings, please follow the instructions described here.
1️⃣ Check whether the alarm can be found on your smartphone under MY ALARMS. If this is not the case, you have not been notified about this specific alarm. In this case, please contact your local administrator or supervisor and ask them why you were not included in the alert.
2️⃣ Please ensure that your device has a data connection at all times. Without a data connection, the alarm notifications cannot be delivered.
3️⃣ On many Android smartphones, the battery optimisation of the devices causes apps to be suppressed as soon as the display is off for a while, or more precisely, the smartphone is in standby mode for a certain period of time. Battery optimisation is one of the most common causes, and it is therefore important to deactivate it, at least for the GroupAlarm app. You can find instructions here.
💡 To check whether battery optimisation has been successfully deactivated, please open the Debug information item in the app settings. The value for Battery optimisation inactive should be set to true.
4️⃣ Check whether the notification settings of your smartphone are configured correctly and the necessary authorisations have been granted. You can find instructions here.
5️⃣ An expired certificate on your smartphone for the GroupAlarm App can be another cause. To solve this problem, you can decouple the app from your profile and reinstall it. We have provided a detailed description here.
6️⃣ Further possible manufacturer-specific causes for unreliable alerting and the corresponding suggested solutions can be found in the following article.
