Devices

💡 You can access your devices in the GroupAlarm App via your avatar in the top right-hand corner. Alternatively, you can also access them in the GroupAlarm web app via your avatar and the option ProfileDevices.

In your devices, you can specify how you would like to be alerted. Possible devices include the GroupAlarm App, SMS, call, email and pager. Your stored contact details apply equally to every organisation. However, organisation administrators have the option of deactivating certain devices for an organisation. Some organisations do this for calls and SMS, for example, in order to save costs. Within this organisation, you will then not receive any alerts via the respective devices. For other organisations where the devices have not been deactivated, the devices will continue to apply.

💡 You can expand and collapse a device by clicking on the small triangle on the right-hand side of the device.

💡 You can use the Active function to switch a device for alerts on and off. Use Delete to remove it completely from your devices and Add to add further devices of this type.

GroupAlarm App

The GroupAlarm App is automatically saved after you have installed the app and logged in with your access data. The app is then automatically active and is used for alerts. The main device function is also active by default for a single linked app, as it is the only app. This setting becomes relevant if you use multiple devices. Since your messenger messages are not cached by GroupAlarm for data protection reasons and can therefore only be received once on a device, it is important to select a main device for receiving messages if you have multiple devices. However, this can also be done in the app settings themselves.

You can send a test alert to the relevant device using the Test notification button. This allows you to check whether the app is alerting you correctly. Please ensure that the app is closed on your device in order to obtain a meaningful test result.

You can remove the app from your availability settings by clicking on the Delete button. This is useful, for example, if you no longer have access to the device. You can also remove the app from your availability settings in the app itself by selecting Remove Device.

SMS and Call

SMS and calls are configured in the same way. Therefore, both devices are dealt with together here. To be alerted via SMS or phone call, you must enter your phone number in your devices. To keep track of multiple phone numbers, you can add a label to each phone number.

⚠️ The phone number must be entered with the country code. An example of the correct format can be found below the input field.

You can respond to alerts via SMS with Yes or No to provide feedback. When alerted via phone call, you will receive a recorded message that reads out the alert text. You can then confirm or reject the alert by pressing a button as instructed in the message.

Email

As with the other devices, you can assign a name to each stored address to make it easier to distinguish between them. Please ensure that you use a valid email address. If the email address does not yet exist, for example, it may be blocked for further use. In addition to alerts via the app, email also supports the comment function in GroupAlarm.

⚠️ Emails are slower for technical reasons. For the fastest possible alerts, we recommend using the GroupAlarm App.

Hotline

The hotline is not a device that you can use to receive alerts. The hotline is used if your organisation uses the hotline extension. In this case, you can enter your phone number here so that you can answer calls as a hotline agent.

⚠️ The phone number must be entered with the country code. An example of the correct format can be found below the input field.

Pager

As with the other devices, you can name the pager. However, you cannot add pagers yourself.

💡 The pager is assigned to you by your local administrator. Once this has been done, the pager is automatically listed in your devices and is thus available for alerts.

Escalation

Escalation allows you to arrange your devices in a specific order. You can move a device using the arrows. You can also define the amount of time the system should wait before alerting the device. If you want a device to be alerted without delay, set the time window to 0. Non-existent devices are skipped in the escalation and the system continues with the next possible device.

💡 GroupAlarm App and any pagers are always alerted immediately and without delay.

⚠️ If you adjust a time, you must save it separately using the disk icon.

💡 The administrator of your organisation can optionally define a different escalation specifically for their organisation. This then takes precedence over the escalation stored in your device settings.
