Enable overlay

If you are using version 2.2.0 or later of the GroupAlarm App, the optional overlay allows you to respond immediately to incoming alarms. These are no longer simply displayed as notifications, but instead open the details view straight away, showing all the key information about the alarm. This is also possible when the display is off and on the lock screen.

To enable the overlay, open the GroupAlarm App and go to Settings. There, enable the option Enable overlay. You will then be guided through the system settings, where you can set the necessary permissions. If you also want the overlay to appear on the lock screen, please also enable the Display on lockscreen option.

If you are unable to enable the overlay, please ensure that you have enabled the ‘Appear on top’ or ‘Display over other apps’ permission (the name may vary depending on your device) for the app. You can find this permission in your smartphone’s settings. The easiest way to find it is to use the search function (magnifying glass) in your settings. You should then be able to enable the overlay in the app’s settings (cog icon).
