Alarms

Create a new alarm

To create a new alarm, click on the "Open alarm" button either within an event or in the "Alarms" menu item.
As long as all the necessary information has not been entered, the button for triggering is grey. Only when all data have been entered can you start the alarm with "Trigger".

Event

In the "Event" field, you can select a currently running event or create a new event by entering a title.

Severity

The severity allows you to determine the criticality of an event. To do this, you can define up to 10 severity levels in your organisation settings.

Alarm text

Then enter an alarm text. You can use a text template here and edit it if necessary.
If you have activated the "Variables in alarm text" module, you can also select from the placeholders. These will be replaced by the corresponding information in the actual alarm message.

Alarm mode

GroupAlarm has three alarm modes: Best-Effort, Strict and Escalation.

Best-effort

In best-effort mode, the selected scenarios, units, and labels are filled as well as possible. This means that even if not all posts of a unit can be filled, the alarm will still be triggered.

Strict

In contrast, an alarm in strict mode is only triggered if the requirements are completely fulfilled. If even one person is missing, the alarm is not triggered.

Escalation

The escalation mode is based on the best-effort mode and only alarms the groups of people previously defined in the [shift plans]() in the configured order. This extension must therefore first be activated.

This is especially helpful if you already expect too few positive responses when triggering a best-effort alarm, taking into account the currently active shift schedule, and want to automatically call in an ever larger group of people - e.g. from currently inactive shift schedules or participants with on-call duty.
To speed up the alerting process, you can already select the escalation level at which the alerting is to be started when it is triggered.

When the alarm is started, the lowest escalation level in which there are enough participants for all positions is automatically determined. If, during the alert, it becomes clear due to incoming cancellations from some participants that not all positions can be filled, the next escalation level is automatically called in, and the participant pool is increased. If the last level has already been reached, the alarm is closed, as in the other alarm modes.

As this mode is intended for the targeted alerting of participants, only scenarios and units can be alerted, but not individual participants or labels.
In addition, active shift schedules are ignored, and no substitution labels are used.

Alarm resources

In just one alarm, you can alarm any number of scenarios, units, labels, and participants.
To do this, select the appropriate entries from the respective drop-down menus. For labels, you must also specify the desired number of personnel or select "all".

Additional information

Here you can enter an address or coordinates (optional), which will be transmitted in the alert.
When you enter an address, suggestions are automatically displayed from which you can choose. The address is automatically converted into coordinates when selected and entered in the corresponding fields.

Alarm monitor

All information about a running alarm is displayed in the alarm monitor.
