Elements of the flow - Create entry (Things)

Using Create entry⁣, you can create entries in Things entities. This allows you to automatically create entries in Things via a flow when certain events occur. In the example shown in the image, the Things entity is used to display the location on the monitor’s static map as well. To do this, we retrieve the relevant data from the alarm via the flow and feed it into Things via Create entry. Details on the entities and how to create them can be found here.

Under Entity ID, you specify the entity in which the flow should create an entry.

You can optionally enable Update existing entry. If you do this, the input field for the entry ID will appear automatically. There, you can specify the ID of the entry to be overwritten. You can find the ID of the desired entry under Admin → Things when you edit the relevant entry in the entity. The ID will then appear at the end of the URL and should look similar to the one shown in the screenshot.

All other input fields shown in the screenshot depend on the fields you have defined in the Things entity. These can then be populated accordingly. In our example, we need the coordinates and the address to be able to display the location on the map. We obtain this information from previous elements in the flow.

💡 Further information on Things is available here.
