# Elements of the flow - Status change

The `Status change` trigger starts a flow when the status of one of your units changes. Details on the status of units can be found [here](https://docs.groupalarm.com/en/article/organisation-settings-unit-status-65we65/). It is not necessary to configure the trigger. 

An application example in combination with the [Check for string](https://docs.groupalarm.com/en/article/elements-of-the-flow-check-for-string-10ailb/) element would be an automated message to the responsible departments when a unit or vehicle changes to workshop status, for example.
